P.S. Are you still putting poison on or into your body?
Here are some interesting Factoids I have found on household products I think everyone especially parents should know:
Have you checked the labels of the products many of use on a daily basis, like... Deodorant, shampoo, soap, shaving cream, mouth wash, hair spray, or toothpaste?
If they have poison warning labels, then this may be your WAKE UP CALL to STOP putting poison unnecessarily in and on your body.
I went to the store today and here are just a few of the warning labels I found:
CREST Toothpaste "If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away"
SECRET Deodorant/Anti-perspirant "Ask a doctor before use if you have kidney disease. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away"
DIAL Soap "If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away"
HEAD & SHOULDERS Conditioner "Keep this and all drugs out of reach of children."
Now before you read the rest of the email, I want you to know that there are natural brands that don't contain poisons and you can buy them at your local grocery store or health food store. In fact large chains like Walmart now carry products without chemical poisons and added toxins.
----------------------------------------------
Since kindergarten, we're taught that brushing our teeth is one of the most beneficial things we can do for our dental care.
If it were true, there would be no need for toothpastes to carry warning labels to "KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN!" Or instructing you to closely supervise children using the toothpaste.
Or to contact a Poison Control Center immediately if your child swallows it.
But what on earth is poison doing in toothpaste? Are there really any "safe" amounts of poison?
Are the manufacturers of dental care and or other hygiene products deluding us into thinking their products are safe?
Just read the label on any major brand toothpaste, mouthwash. You'll see they're loaded with potentially dangerous additives and chemicals, most of which have been researched for their harmful effects:
Alcohol
Artificial color
Artificial flavoring
Aspartame
Carrageenin
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
Sodium fluoride
Sodium saccharin
FD&C Blue #1
Yellow dye #5 or #10
Pentasodium triphosphate
Saccharin
Sodium monofluorophosphate
Tetrasodium pyrophosphate
Titanium dioxide
And more!
But the worst thing about it is that these chemicals can be absorbed directly into your blood stream within seconds - even if you never swallow!
According to the Physician's Desk Reference, the mucous lining inside your mouth has an absorption efficiency of up to 90 percent!
These chemicals get into your blood, your brain, and your cells in no time at all especially when you consider most people use dental care products 2 to 3 times a day!
Can toxic chemicals impact your health?
According to a government study, these chemicals accumulate in the organs and tissues. This accumulation may result in mounting brain, nerve, and liver damage, (Matthew et al., 1995).
Other studies show that Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS), found in nearly ALL toothpastes and in many shampoos and soaps, is absorbed through skin contact and is retained for up to 5 days. It has long been suspected of health-damaging effects, especially in eye tissues where it accumulates and denatures proteins, impairing development permanently.
The FDA acknowledges that fluoride, when swallowed, poses significant risks to children. And if you haven't noticed, the FDA requires all fluoride toothpastes to carry a poison warning label.
So you see, the contents of your toothpaste or other toiletries may impact your health, and that of your children, in ways you never imagined!
